Pinnacle has selected Mobilygen Inc's MG1264 SD codec chip to use in their new Pinnacle Video Transfer product that is set to debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this week.
The device will "analog video onto any USB 2.0 storage device without using a PC. At the touch of a button, users with little or no technical expertise can immediately begin recording from a TV, DVD player, PVR, camcorder or set-top box directly to their iPod® Video, PSPT, USB flash drive or USB hard drive."
Mobilygen's MG1264 Codec is based on the patented en-ViE (Enabling Video Everywhere) architecture, which offers outstanding video quality while minimizing power consumption. The MG1264 is capable of encoding and decoding full resolution H.264 video simultaneously with 2-channel AAC audio while requiring only 185mW of total chip power.
This can be great for videos you shoot with your camcorder that you want to immediately put somewhere for people to be able to watch on the go. On a non camcorder related front it could be a great product to record your favorite TV shows or movies onto your iPod or PSP to watch on the plane or during a long commute.
Pinnacle Video transfer has an MSRP of $129.99.
