Sony's DCR-DVD508 camcorder is the company's high-end DVD camcorder for 2007. The camcorder allows users to record video directly onto DVD-R/-RW/+RW/+R dual layer discs and once they have finished recording instantly play those discs back in their DVD player.

This “First Look” review takes a look at the specs of this camcorder. Look for a more in-depth hands-on review in the coming months after the camcorder is released.

Sony DVD508 Zoom

The DVD508 has a 10x optical and 20x digital zoom.

The DVD508 can take 6 megapixel still photographs in addition to recording video. The camcorder can also capture 4.6 megapixel still photos while simultaneously recording video. Still photographs are stored onto a Sony Memory Stick Duo memory card.
