The DCR-SR100 is the first hard drive camcorder by Sony. The camcorders hard drive makes it perfect for recording long events, and transferring video from you camcorder to your computer. In addition to recording video, the DCR-SR100 has the ability to take 3 megapixel still photographs. The DCR-SR100 is fairly easy to operate, but touch screen can make menus difficult to navigate while recording.
Positive Aspects of the Sony DCR-SR100
The Sony DCR-SR100 has a large hard drive, which is excellent for recording longer projects. The hard drive makes it easy to transfer video to your computer for editing, and the photo resolution is larger enough to print out an 8x10 photograph.Negative Aspects of the Sony DCR-SR100
I have mentioned before my dislike for Sonys touch screen menu. The camcorder menu has to be navigated through the touch screen LCD that can be inconvenient while shooting. The DCR-SR10 also has a slightly lower video quality than similarly priced MiniDV camcorders.Sony DCR-SR100 Hard Drive
The Sony DCR-SR100 has a built-in 30g hard drive. The drive is large enough to hold 440 minutes of video at the camcorders highest video quality setting. At its lowest video quality setting the camcorder can hold up to 1,250 minutes of video. Once recorded video can be played back onto your television using an included cable, or copied directly to your computers hard drive via USB 2.0.Sony DCR-SR100 Lens
