The JVC GR-D370 MiniDV digital camcorder is for the most part identical to JVC’s entry level MiniDV camcorder the GR-D350. The GR-D370 offers users widescreen support, as well as a video light, but those are the only differences between the two MiniDV camcorders.

The JVC GR-D370 is an excellent option for new camcorder users, and those making the step into digital video who don’t want to spend a lot of money, but want to get an easy to use camcorder.

Positive Aspects of the JVC GR-D370

The GR-D370 has a 32x optical zoom which is fairly high for digital camcorders in this price range. The MiniDV camcorder very affordable, lightweight and easy to use making it an excellent choice for a camcorder novice.

Negative Aspects of the JVC GR-D370

The video quality from the JVC GR-D370 is not very high given the small size of the camcorders CCD.

Video Quality

The 1/6” CCD in this camcorder make’s it difficult for it to record very high quality video. The video quality is good enough for home videos and web, but not appropriate for broadcast or independent film projects.

Zoom

The GR-D370 has a 32x optical and 800x digital zoom. The optical zoom is much higher than many other camcorders in this price range.
