Canon 2008 Camcorder Announcements

Canon is making a lot of important announcements this year at CES. The company will introduce its first flash-memory based camcorders as well as a new zoom feature for standard definition camcorders that increase the camcorders zoom without decreasing video quality as typically happens with digital zoom.

Other camcorder improvements include a battery alert on info-lithium batteries, and a new soft light on standard definition MiniDV and DVD camcorder that turns the camcorders LCD screen into a soft light.

The new models expected to be announced this year include:

Canon HF10 high-definition Flash Camcorder

The HF10 is an AVCHD camcorder that records video onto its built-in 16GB internal flash drive or onto an SDHC card. The camcorder can capture video in 1,920 by 1080i. and will have a 12x optical zoom, optical image stabilization, 24p cinema recording, 30p recording for the web, and a 2.7-inch LCD.

Canon HF1000 high-definition Flash Camcorder

The Canon HF1000 only records video onto SD cards. The camcorder can capture video in 1,920 by 1080i. and will have a 12x optical zoom, optical image stabilization, 24p cinema recording, 30p recording for the web, and a 2.7-inch LCD.

Canon HV30 high-definition Camcorder

The Canon HV30 with have 3CCDs, a 10x optical zoom, and the new soft-light LCD feature.
