LCD Screen Menu

This feature of the of the Sony DCR-HC26 is the one that causes me the most trouble. You use the LCD to navigate through the menu on the camcorder rather than menu buttons.

On one hand this is great, you can focus on the video you are shooting rather than searching for the right menu buttons on your camcorder, with the menu right on your LCD screen.

On the other hand you have to use the LCD screen to get to your menu, so if you are trying to conserve battery power by not using the LCD screen, or you are shooting video in a bright light situation where the sun is behind you, you could start running into problems.

LCD screens are also prone to scratches and are easily damaged, every time you use your menu you are also running the risk of damaging your camcorder.

Web Cam

The Sony DCR-HC26 can be used as a webcam as well as a camcorder by connecting the camcorder to your computer through a USB port. For the most part a useless feature, but if you want to be an occasional webcam user it can be a nice feature to have.

Automatic Shooting Modes

The DCR-HC26 comes with a vareity of automatic shooting modes built in to make shooting special events easier.

Shooting modes in the DCR-HC26 include spotlight, sunset & moon, portrait, beach & ski, landscape and sports lesson.
