![]() Photo (c) Sony Sony Announces Four High-Definition Camcorders for 2007Sony Unveils Two DVD and Two MiniDV High-Definition CamcordersSony unveiled four new high-definition camcorders at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas for 2007. The HDR-UX7 and HRD-UX5 are Sonys top-of-the-line models this year, while the HDR-HC5 and HDR-HC7 are geared more toward the average consumer. All four camcorders feature Sonys ClearVid CMOS sensor technology and a slow motion function where the user can play back video at 240 frames per second. The HDR-UX7 and HDR-UX5 record onto DVD while the HDR-HC7 and HDR-HC5 record onto a MiniDV tape.
Sony HDR-UX7 DVD CamcorderSonys HDR-UX7 uses Sonys AVCHD technology to record high-definition video directly onto a DVD-R/RW/+RW/+R DL. The HDR-UX7 can record 5.1ch surround sound and has a 3.2 Megapixel ClearVid CMOS Sensor. The HDR-UX7 enables the user to switch between standard definition and high-definition recording and is capable to taking a 4.6 megapixel still photo while recording video. Sony HDR-UX5 DVD CamcorderSonys HDR-UX5 also uses Sonys AVCHD format to record video onto a DVD-R/-RW/+R DL. The HDR-UX5 also can record 5.1ch surround sound and has a smaller 2.1 Megapixel ClearVid CMOS Sensor. The HDR-UX5 can also switch between standard and high-definition recording and can capture a 2.3 Megapixel still image simultaneously while recording video. The HDR-HC& has a 3.2 Megapixel ClearVid CMOS Sensor, professional quality Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar T Lens, and SuperSteadyShot Optical Image Stabilization. The HDR-HC7 can be switched between standard and high-definition and can record 4.6 Megapixel still photos simultaneously while recording video. Sony HDR-HC5 MiniDV CamcorderSonys HDR-HC5 records high-definition video onto a MiniDV tape.
