MiniDV is the most popular format for digital camcorders today. MiniDV camcorders have up to 530 lines of resolution, making them an ideal choice for professional videographers as well as consumers. The camcorders are typically very compact in size and record digital video onto a small magnetic tape, with each MiniDV tape able to record 60 minutes of video at a regular recording speed, or 90 minutes in LP mode. MiniDV camcorders usually connect to a home computer via firewire, where their video can be edited and put on a VHS tape, burned to DVD, or uploaded to the internet. MiniDV camcorders have up to 530 lines of resolution, making them an ideal choice for professional videographers as well as consumers.
