Aspherical Lens

Definition: An aspherical lens is a lens, usually glass, which is used on a camcorder or SLR camera. Aspherical lenses are typically lighter weight than traditional lenses and do not conform to the typical sphere shape of lenses, meaning that their profile does not contain a sphere or any part of a sphere. Aspherical lenses are used to reduce certain types of aberration typically showing a much clearer picture than their traditional lens counterparts.
