The more you know about what you are looking for in a camcorder the easier it will be for a salesperson to help you find the perfect one. Here are a few things you should think about regarding your camcorder purchase before you ever start thinking about a particular camcorder model to buy. What do I plan on using the camcorder for?Do you plan on using your camcorder to record family events? Are you an aspiring filmmaker? What you plan on using your camcorder for can make a dramatic difference in what type of camcorder you should purchase. If you plan on shooting a lot of your son's baseball games you will want a camcorder with a sports mode. Likewise, if youre going to shoot a lot of your daughter's dance recitals you will want a good night vision or low light mode for when you are in a dimly lit theater What is my budget?Do you want to spend $300 or $3000 on your new camcorder? If there were a much better camcorder for $20 more would you make an exception to your budget? How about a $50? Or $100?. The difference between different camcorder models can range from $20 to a few hundred. In some cases the price difference can just be for a better resolution still camera, in others it can be tons of better features for not much more money. Quick to Learn or Fancy Features?Do you want to purchase a camcorder than you can use right out of the box or one with tons of features? If you dont plan on using tons of extra features buying a camcorder that is loaded with them can make learning how to use your camcorder pretty difficult. With some camcorders you can change your aperture, or use a manual focus. Think about what you would like to do and purchase a camcorder with those features. What format? If you plan on editing your video on a computer or want the ability to make your video into DVDs then you will want to purchase a digital camcorder. If you would rather be able to watch your video right after you shoot it then a VHS-C may be the way to go. Take a look at the different recording formats available and decide which one might be right for you. Related Guide PicksTop Camcorders Under $400Top DVD CamcordersTop Camcorders For Teenagers |
