Sanyo announced the VPC-HD2 at this years CES. The VPC-HD2 is a follow-up to the VPC-HD1 and VPC-HD1a HD camcorders put out by Sanyo last year.

Sanyo’s VPC-HD2 records in 1280 x 720 progressive, and has a Web-SHQ function for optimized shooting for the Internet, records video onto SD and SDHD cards and has a 10x optical and 100x digital zoom, and the ability to take 7.1 megapixel still images.

The VPC-HD2 is expected to ship in March 2007 at an expected retail of $699.
