The big names in the camcorder market have had a somewhat arms-length relationship with pocket camcorders. Sony and JVC got religion, but Panasonic and Canon have held out. Until now. Panasonic announced its entry last week with the HM-TA1. Given that this is a crowded field, Panasonic thankfully brought something a little different to the table: the camcorder can double as a Web cam for use with services like Skype. The $169 model features:
- 1920 x 1080 recording
- iFrame format support for easy Mac editing
- LED light
- 4x digital zoom
- built-in USB plug
- color effects
