3D is all the rage these days, with new 3D HDTVs hitting store shelves from the big names in the consumer electronics industry. Now, DXG is introducing its own 3D camcorder that lets you record both 3D and 2D video and still images. The 5D7V camcorder records VGA resolution 3D video in the H.264 format and has a 3.2-inch LCD screen that can display 3D videos without the need for glasses. It uses flash memory, with 128MB of internal storage and an SDHC card slot.
The camcorder will be sold in a bundle with a 7-inch media viewer that can display 3D videos and stills without the need for glasses (hey, what's wrong with glasses?). The media player also features built-in MP3 music player, alarm clock and calendar. You can also connect the camcorder to a 3D HDTV via an HDMI output.
The 3D camcorder and media player will ship in August for $599.
This is, I believe, DXG's most expensive camcorder to date and the first consumer-oriented 3D camcorder to be announced. I suspect more are on the way.
